Planning An Outdoor Wedding?: Don’t Make These Mistakes – Part 1
An outdoor wedding can be absolutely amazing as long you avoid the possible pitfalls and mistakes.
There are so many things to consider, from the weather to the wildlife to the bathroom situation.
Planning your outdoor wedding will be much smoother and less stressful if you avoid the following mistakes as outlined at SHE finds:
Outdoor weddings in the summer are hands down the best. Warm weather, sunshine, refreshing summer cocktails, scenic backdrops–we could go on forever. But there are a few things you should learn before walking down the aisle. For starters, your gorgeous buttercream frosted cake is going to melt sitting out in the sun. And regardless of how adamant you are on having all of your festivities outside, mother nature may not always agree with your plan. It’s time to start thinking about a backup plan, ladies.
Not coming up with a plan B: You may not want an indoor wedding, but mother nature is very unpredictable. It’s best to come up with a solution for inclement weather, otherwise you might be celebrating in the rain.
Getting a cake with regular icing: Fondant has a time and a place, and it’s at summer weddings. It will hold up in the heat, unlike other creamier frostings, which will melt and turn into a giant mess.
Not providing chair covers: Have you ever sat in a chair without a cushion that’s been sitting out in the sun for hours? Okay then, you know it’s not a pleasant feeling. Do your guests a favor and provide chair covers, cushions or basically anything that will prevent the scorching hot chair from burning their skin.[via Ryan Ray Photography]
Not providing Sun Protection for guests: Drinking alcohol and sitting out in the sun is a recipe for a massive sunburn. Provide SPF (Sun Protection Factor) for guests, as it’s probably something they didn’t even think of bringing to your wedding. We love the idea of mini custom SPF bottles for wedding favors.[via ]
Serving the wrong foods: Be weary of foods that might melt or spoil in warm temperatures. Avoid things like cheese, dairy, spreads and anything that must be served cold. Opt for menu items that will look and taste awesome. Melted cheese is not a chic look, FYI.
